Oprah Winfrey

“For every one of us that succeeds, it’s because there’s somebody there to show you the way out. The light doesn’t always necessarily have to be in your family; for me it was teachers and school.”

Why Promote Equity in Higher Education ?

While equality focuses on granting individuals the same opportunities, equity acknowledges the barriers to access that exist for marginalized communities. Equity is a commitment to allocating resources, funding, and academic support in a manner that considers the unique backgrounds of an institution’s students. This approach bridges the gap and enables all students to thrive throughout their postsecondary studies, regardless of race, gender, disability or social class. Equitable education is the only way forward in the abundantly diverse world that we inhabit.
